Patagonia will put all its profits towards protecting the planet

One of the biggest news stories in September was Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard’s decision to transfer ownership of the company to two non-profit organisations so that every dollar not reinvested in the company will be put towards protecting the planet. All of the company’s voting shares (2% of the total) have been transferred to the Patagonia Purpose Trust, whose mission is to ensure that Patagonia lives up to its purpose statement, which reads “We’re in business to save our home planet”.
