This July witnessed two events that majorly elevated the invasion of Ukraine’s impact on both Russia’s and the EU’s economies. According to data from the International Energy Agency (IEA), Moscow has earned three times what it normally would from oil and gas sales in a single winter since the invasion began, meaning that it can afford to continue cutting its shipments to Western European countries. Nevertheless, the Russian parliament has now unanimously approved two laws that will put the country in a war economy position, with the initial vote passing nearly five months into the invasion. The first of the two laws will allow the state
